> What is oligopin® ?

oligopin® is the commercial name for a health ingredient extracted from French maritime pine bark. oligopin® contains a guaranteed level of Oligomeric ProCyanidins, or OPC, an active ingredient that is beneficial for health. Research on OPC and especially on oligopin® demonstrates multiple biological actions: antioxidant, cardiovascular health, vascular protection, skin protection, etc.
oligopin® is a health ingredient that can be incorporated into dietary supplements, functional foods or cosmetics.
oligopin® is produced by DRT (Les Dérivés Résiniques et Terpéniques), a company located in the heart of the Landes forest in south-west France.

> Why is oligopin® an original product ?

Oligopin® is extracted from an original source, the French maritime pine bark, growing in the Landes region, in the heart of Europe’s largest forest.
oligopin® is a health ingredient containing a guaranteed level of OPC (Oligomeric ProCyanidins). oligopin® is recognized for its purity and strict chemical characterisation. Indeed, oligopin® guarantees a high content in short oligomers of catechin and epicatechin

> Is oligopin® bioavailable ?

oligopin® is a bioavailable ingredient due to the fact that it has a guaranteed high content of short catechin and epicatechin oligomers. Oligomers are small molecules that are easily absorbed in the intestine and exert multiple biological actions.
Polymers have a higher molecular weight and are not easily absorbed. As a result, they have very weak biological action. In some cases, they may even have an anti-nutritional effect by binding to proteins and enzymes. That is why DRT eliminates polymers despite their abundant presence in health ingredients that have not been sufficiently purified.

> Where can I find oligopin® ?

oligopin® can be found into dietary supplements, functional foods and cosmetics. Oligomeric procyanidins (OPC) are generally included in health formulas in the following areas: antioxidants, vascular protection, cardiovascular health, skincare.

> How can you be sure that a product contains oligopin® ?

To be sure that oligopin® is contained in a product, you must read the list of ingredients. If “oligopin®” is mentioned on the list, then the product has been made with our compound.
Other terms may be used, but do not guarantee the presence of oligopin® in the product :

    - “French maritime pine bark extract”
    - “OPC from pine”
    - “OPC”
    - “Pine Polyphenols”
    - “Oligomeric procyanidins"
    - “Extract of Pinus pinaster”

> What is the daily recommended dose for oligopin® ?

It is recommended to intake between 40 and 100 mg of oligopin® per day to obtain maximal biological effects. Depending on the type of product, capsule or food, the daily dosage of oligopin® can be taken once or divided into several intakes throughout the day.
Depending on the desired effect, duration of oligopin® treatment will be variable; usually it is for 1 month renewable, although it can be taken for longer periods and repeated several times a year. In any case, it is important to refer to the recommended dosage indicated on the product itself, and to seek the advice of your pharmacist or dietician.

> What are the effects of oligopin® on the skin ?

As the synthesis of collagen and elastin diminishes, skin loses its suppleness. Furthermore, with time passing or when getting older, there is deterioration in the polysaccharides which are constitutive of the skin and as a result, the skin can no longer remain sufficiently hydrated.

        oligopin® through nutrition
oligopin® is carried from the intestine to the blood stream as it contains short oligomers, small molecules that are easily absorbed through the intestinal barrier. The active ingredients contained in oligopin® are carried in the blood stream to the deepest layers of the skin.
        The OPC in oligopin®:

    - Increase defence against oxidants
    - Directly protect elastin and collagen: OPC in fact have a special affinity for these proteins (reducing the actions of the enzymes that cause deterioration of elastin and collagen)
    - Reduce hyperpigmentation by inhibiting the action of the enzyme responsible for melanogenesis
    - Stimulate microcirculation thus improving hydration and optimal transportation of nutrients necessary to the skin.

        oligopin® as a local application
The OPC in oligopin® bind to elastin and collagen and protect these molecules from enzyme deterioration.
oligopin® enhances the effects of vitamin C on collagen synthesis.
oligopin® reduces the undesirable effects of exposure to the sun: oedema, inflammation, etc.
The OPC in oligopin® also have an anti-inflammatory action.

> I already use cosmetics, do I also need to take oligopin® ?

The effects of cosmetics are, unfortunately, limited to the area of application. A food product containing oligopin®, a dietary supplement or functional food carries the active ingredients via the blood stream to all your skin. A food product does not replace cosmetics but acts as a supplement, especially during periods of stress or increased exposure to outside harmful factors: pollution, sun, etc.

> Which active principles can be used with oligopin® ?

oligopin® can be used with various agents depending on the required effect:
Vascular protection – Circulation – To relief tired legs: oligopin® can be used with diosmin, citroflavonoids, hesperidin, vitamin C, centella asiatica, red grapevine, ruscus.
oligopin® is an antioxidant complex and can be combined with vitamins A, C, E, green tea extract, lycopene, beta carotene, curcumin, riboflavin.
Eye protection: oligopin® can be used with bilberry, lutein, zeaxanthin, Vitamins A and E.
Skin depigmentation: oligopin® can be combined with alpha-lipoic acid, with lycopene and beta carotene, and with vitamins A, C, E.

> Which foods can be combined with oligopin® ?

oligopin® is a health ingredient intended as a supplement to a normal diet.
oligopin® has physiological effects when it is taken alone at an optimal dose or combined with other food products.
Because oligopin® enhances the actions of vitamins, you are recommended to take your dietary supplement at the same time as a fruit, a fruit juice or a salad, etc.
Taking oligopin® does not replace a balanced and varied diet, nor does it compensate for nutritional imbalances.

> At what age should oligopin® be taken ?

Given the lack of sufficient scientific data we do not recommend oligopin® for children under 12. The same recommendation applies to pregnant women or nursing mothers. We recommend seeking the advice of your pharmacist or dietician.
